	1976 Dodgers ticket stub - Rick Monday Saves the American Flag - PSA Auth This game, which occurred on April 25, 1976, at Dodger Stadium is known as the game in which visiting Cubs outfielder, Rick Monday saved the American flag. Early in the game, two protestors ran onto the field in the 4th inning carrying an American flag and a can of lighter fluid. They stopped in center field and started to douse the flag with lighter fluid. Enter Rick Monday, who snatched the flag just before the protesters set it afire. Dodgers legend Tommy Lasorda was coaching third base at the time. According to Monday, Lasorda stormed after the protestors as well, "yelling about every expletive a longshoreman has ever uttered." When Monday came to bat in the top of the 5th, the Dodgers scoreboard flashed the following message: "RICK MONDAY ... YOU MADE A GREAT PLAY ..."
