1941 Play Ball # 054 - Harold "Pee Wee" Reese (RC) - Rookie - PSA 5
"Pee Wee" was the popular shortstop for the Brooklyn Dodgers and was enshrined into the Hall of Fame in 1984. Aside from being named to ten All-Star squads and appearing in the World Series seven times, as captain of the Dodgers in 1947, Jackie Robinson's rookie season, Pee Wee Reese perhaps made his greatest contribution to baseball as Jackie's greatest supporter and teammate.

1941 Play Ball # 072 - Vernon "Lefty" Gomez - SGC 50
Enshrined in Cooperstown in 1972, Gomez was one of the greatest picthers of his era, starring for the New York Yankees for 12 seasons. During his Yankees tenure, he was selected to seven All-Star teams and won five World Series Championships. He was married June O'Dea, a popular actress during the mid-1930's.

1947 Bond Bread - Bobby Doerr - SGC 88
Doerr was a member of the great Boston Red Sox teams of the late 1930s and 1940s and has been lifelong friends of Ted Williams and Johnny Pesky, a relationship chronicled in David Halberstam’s wonderful appropriately titled book, “The Teammates.” Doerr, who was once called “the silent captain of the Red Sox” by Ted Williams, was a nine time All-Star selection and hit 223 career HRs, third most all-time for second basemen. He was enshrined into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1986. When Phil Rizzuto died in August 2007, Doerr became the oldest living player in the Baseball Hall of Fame.

1949 Bowman # 024 (Gray Back) - Stan Musial - SGC 70
One of the greatest players of all time, Stanislaw Franciszek Musial, otherwise known as "Stan the Man" played his entire career for the St. Louis Cardinals and was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1969. This 24-time All-Star, who, unbelievable perhaps, was retired 49 straight times by Dodgers pitcher Clem Labine, was actually nicknamed "The Man" by Brooklyn Dodgers fans. Dodgers pitcher Preacher Roe described his pitching strategy when facing Musial as, "I throw him four wide ones and try to pick him off at first."

1949 Bowman # 084 - Roy Campanella (RC) - Rookie - SGC 84
Campanella, who got his start in the Negro Leagues, played for the Brooklyn Dodgers his entire Major League career, which ended abruptly after an automobile accident left him paralyzed. A winner of three National League MVP Awards, and an eight-time All-Star selection, "Campy," perhaps the greatest catcher in baseball history, was enshrined into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1969. Campy's touching personal story is perhaps the greatest vignette in Roger Kahn's wonderful book, "The Boys of Summer."

1949 Bowman # 098 - Phil Rizzuto (NNoF) - SGC 80
"The Scooter," one of the most popular and beloved figures in Yankees history, was finally inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1994. In addition to winning the AL MVP Award in 1950, Rizzuto won seven World Series titles with the Yankees. "The Scooter" became the radio and TV voice of the Yankees after his playing career. Known for yelling "Holy Cow," calling players "Huckleberries," and thanking local bakeries for delivering canolis, Rizzuto endeared himself to viewers through his unique and lovable personality.
