Dickey, who played his entire career for the New York Yankees, was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1954. Dickey was perhaps better known as the great Hall of Fame Yankees catcher who tutored Yogi Berra to become a Hall of Famer as well --- incidentally, both wore the number 8.

"Poosh 'Em Up" Lazzeri, a popular second baseman on the New York Yankees' Murderer's Row teams, was enshrined into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1991. During an eleven year stretch from 1927 through 1937, Lazzeri was a member of five World Champion squads. As noted on the back of his 1933 Goudey card, Lazzeri was one of the Yankees most dangerous hitters.

One of history's top catchers, Gordon "Mickey" Cochrane was also known for his hot temper and close friendship with Ty Cobb. Doc Cramer said of Cochrane, "Home plate was his, you see. You had to take it away from him." Cochrane hit a home run at his last official at bat; his career came to an abrupt end when he was hit in the head with a ball--he was unconscious for five days. Mickey Mantle was named after Cochrane, who was Mantle's father's favorite player. He was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1947.

"Ol' Stubblebeard," as he was often known, is depicted here as a member of the Chicago Cubs. Known for his spitball as well as his volatile temperament on the field, Grimes is remembered as a very kind man off the field. With an impressive 1,512 strikeouts, Grimes was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1964. He is also included in Ritter and Honig's "100 Greatest Baseball Players of All Time."

This popular Brooklyn Dodgers second baseman and Long Island City, NY native is here depicted as a rookie. This three time All Star was known as a solid hitter, hitting .300 or better five times. After his retirement as a player in 1945, he went on to manage and coach several teams.

This 1933 Goudey rookie card of Mel Ott is graded a PSA 5. Right fielder "Master Melvin" played for the New York Giants for his entire career. This lefty batter became the first National League player to hit 500 home runs, and his number (4) was retired by the Giants in 1949. Ott was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1951.

This 1933 Goudey Moe Berg has been graded an SGC 50.  A gifted Jewish intellectual who wanted to help fight the Nazis, Berg gained notoriety as an American spy during World War II. He was a graduate of Columbia Law School, but gave up a career in law to play baseball--his one great love, although he was always an average player. Berg was also known for reading a lofty stack of newspapers on a daily basis, and if someone touched them before he did, he would say that they were "spoiled" and would refuse to read them.

The brother of Paul "Big Poison" Waner, Lloyd, known affectionately as "Little Poison" was inducted into the baseball hall of fame in 1967 by the Veterans' Committee. He patrolled center field for the Pittsburgh Pirates from 1927 through 1941. Waner ended his career with extremely impressive numbers, a .316 lifetime batting average and 2,459 hits.

Joe Cronin ended his career with a .301 batting average. During the course of his career, Cronin also played for the Washington Senators from 1928-1934, and even married the owner's (Clark Griffith's) niece. Cronin was enshrined in Cooperstown 1956, and Harris in 1975.

Famous for his devastating screwball, Hubbell was one of the finest pitchers of his era. Nicknamed "King Carl" and "The Meal Ticket," Hubbell won 253 games, was named National League MVP two times, and was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1947. During the 1934 All-Star Game, Hubbell struckout the following five hall of famers in succession: Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Jimmy Foxx, Al Simmons, and Joe Cronin. During one particular stretch over the course of the 1936 and 1937 seasons, "The Meal Ticket" won 24 consecutive games.
