This T206 Bugs Raymond has been graded an SGC 40. Arthur "Bugs" Raymond was a great spitball pitcher during his day and one legendary writer Damon Runyan's favorite players. Unfortunately, his impressive career as a hitter and defensive player is marred by repeated allegations of gambling and throwing games; there are still unconfirmed rumors he was a middleman between gamblers and players in the Black Sox Scandal. Late in life he expressed remorse for his vice, saying, "I wasn't satisfied with what the club owners were paying me....Once the evil started there was no stopping it, and club owners were not strong enough to cope with the evil."
